We touch wonderful textures every day and it’s likely many of us never think about their favorites. The prompt today forced me to think about it. Perhaps it’s because I’m a blogger and tech enthusiast but the feel of a keyboard is one of my favorites.
Textures are everywhere: The rough edges of a stone wall. The smooth innocence of a baby’s cheek. The sense of touch brings back memories for us. What texture is particularly evocative to you?
Textures are all around us and I am a very tactile person so I love many of them. One I really like is the feel of my hand running flat across a powered off keyboard. Sometimes I will feel it and then type like a crazy man to get my heebee jeebees out. I spend hours every day on a keyboard but this texture is different from typing.
I have a friend who collects keyboards. He talks to me about how the old IBM style ones are the best. He uses a converter for some of the really old ones because they give the resistance he seems to really enjoy. When he first told me about his collection, I scoffed at it but when I tested some of them at his house they looked like they came from NASA on the 80’s and they really felt good typing on. I wonder what other sorts of things people enjoy the texture of. I look forward to reading about it on the Daily Post.
